ABOUT US

At Manifest Freedom, we see a world where the impact of the criminal legal system does not define potential, where economic freedom is not a privilege but a reality for all, and where creativity and innovation flourish in spaces of true liberation.

Our Vision

We envision a society that acknowledges the inherent dignity and worth of every individual. In this vision, individuals and communities impacted by the criminal legal system are not only given a chance to survive, but are also empowered to thrive.

Through the arts, culture, and collective healing, we manifest freedom and justice, inviting all to dream and actively create a more equitable and
inclusive future.

Our work utilizes the transformative power of imagination as a catalyst for social justice.

Mass incarceration not only costs the United States an estimated $80 billion annually in taxpayer money, it also deprives us of all the brilliance and ingenuity system–impacted people might otherwise bring into the world if put in positions to not merely survive, but thrive.

Harnessing the power of imagination is a profound privilege. For many people who have been entangled in the criminal legal system and who are gripped by the struggle of survival mode, the gift of imagination often lies dormant.

In order to transform the criminal legal system, we have to transform our own beliefs about people directly impacted and their futures. The uniqueness in their life experience is an advantage in solving problems others do not know exist or refuse to acknowledge.

Their entrepreneurial spirit – able to creative and innovate under America’s most inhumane conditions – is exactly what our current crisis calls for, if we

can imagine the possibilities.
